Structured Classical Curriculum · Ages 5+
From First Steps to Rangapravesham
Kuchipudi taught as a progressive classical art form, not a series of unrelated classes — for students from age 5 through to the artistic maturity of Rangapravesham.

Philosophy & Pedagogy
"Learning Kuchipudi well takes more than memorising steps; it takes years of layered training in technique, expression, rhythm, and stagecraft."
Kuchipudi is one of India's classical dance traditions — a living blend of rhythm, storytelling, drama, and devotion, passed down through generations of practice.
This programme is built as a long-term learning pathway, not a single drop-in class attended indefinitely. Every student moves through it at their own pace — but the stages along the way are grounded in classical rigour.
Correct posture, mandala stance, and adugulu from day one so nothing has to be unlearned later.
Expression and mudras are developed alongside footwork, not bolted on after years of mechanical practice.
Students learn to recite sollukattus and count Tala cycles, dancing with the music rather than merely to it.
Classroom practice culminates in authentic stage presentations, academy recitals, and formal Rangapravesham.
Admissions & Batches
We welcome beginners and continuing students into age-aligned cohorts with focused instructor attention.
Students may begin from 5 years of age. Year 1 foundation is tailored for developing young bodies safely.
No previous dance training required. Year 1 assumes zero prior dance background and builds from scratch.
Prior Kuchipudi or classical training is evaluated by senior faculty for the right stage placement.
Adult beginners and mature learners are welcome, with curriculum paced to adult biomechanics.

Credentials
Kuchipudi & Contemporary Dance Guru, Rhythmzz Academy of Dance
Srushti Nidhi is a trained Kuchipudi and contemporary dancer, teacher, performer, and choreographer based in Hyderabad. She has dedicated 16 years to learning Kuchipudi under the guidance of Guru Smt. Lakshmi Shankar, and has also received contemporary dance training under Mr. Nitish Kumar.
She is a Doordarshan Certified B-Grade artist, holds a certificate in Kuchipudi from Telugu University, and completed her Rangapravesham at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad — later being conferred the title Nruthyadeekshamani.
She is currently working as a Dance Facilitator at The Gaudium School, where she guides students in dance education, performance, creativity, and artistic expression. Alongside her artistic practice, Srushti is the co-founder of Saanjhi, a non-profit initiative centred around art, compassion, and responsibility.
◆ Founded in 2025
In 2025, she began her own dance classes under the name Srushti Sthithi Laya — inspired by Srushti (creation), Sthithi (stability & preservation), and Laya, which she interprets as rhythm: the meeting point of creation, stability, and rhythm through dance.
Her students and ensemble recently performed in Vijayawada, marking another step in the journey of Srushti Sthithi Laya.

Select a learning track below to explore practical technique, theory topics, and expected annual learning outcomes.
Age Pacing
Curriculum depth evolves naturally as students grow in physical strength, coordination, and expressive readiness.
Cultivates enjoyment of dance, spatial awareness, coordination, basic posture, and fundamental adugulu.
Focuses on technical clarity, stamina, accurate footwork, early repertoire, and first demonstration opportunities.
Introduces more complex rhythmic patterns, abhinaya nuances, and growing expressive stage maturity.
Advanced traditional repertoire (Tarangam, Shabdam, Padams), artistic interpretation, and Rangapravesham guidance.
Classical Core
Originating in Andhra Pradesh, Kuchipudi weaves rhythmic technique with rich dramatic abhinaya and theatrical expression.
Nritta
Pure Dance
Rhythm, movement, and technical precision for their own sake — exploring form, tempo, and geometry.
Nritya
Expressive Dance
Movement, music, and emotional meaning combined to tell evocative stories through hand gestures and facial expression.
Natya
Dramatic Storytelling
Character and theatrical presentation drawn directly from classical Indian dance-drama traditions.
Abhinaya
The Fourfold Expression
The timeless art of communicating emotion through Angika (body), Vachika (voice/music), Aharya (costume), and Satvika (inner truth).

Margam Performance Suite
The classical Kuchipudi Margam — a time-honoured sequential suite progressing from sacred invocations to the virtuoso Tarangam brass plate dance.
The sacred ritual opening. Dancers sprinkle scented water, offer flowers to Lord Nataraja and Rangadevatha, and offer prayers for artistic auspiciousness.
Weaving melodic Carnatic Swaras with crisp Jathi footwork patterns. Void of abhinaya, celebrating rhythmic precision and aesthetic body lines.
The bridge between pure dance and narrative theatre. Verses praising deities or historical patron kings, alternating with brisk Jathi sequences.
Ancient temple hymn blending recited rhythmic syllables (Sollukattus) with devotional obeisance to Lord Ganesha, remover of obstacles.
Rich devotional composition composed by Saint Thyagaraja or Annamacharya. Dancers interpret complex mythological episodes through nuanced facial mime.
Kuchipudi’s most famous virtuoso showcase. The dancer executes intricate rhythmic footwork while balancing upon the raised rim of a brass plate, accompanied by live Mridangam.
A joyous technical crescendo of sculpturesque postures and brisk footwork, concluding with the Mangalam prayer thanking the Guru, musicians, and spectators.

Solo Graduation
"Entry to the stage" — a dancer's formal graduation into full artistic maturity. Rangapravesham is a full-length solo performance demonstrating years of accumulated technical skill, expressive depth, and stage stamina.
Performed with a complete live classical music ensemble (Vocalist, Mridangist, Flautist, Violinist, and Nattuvanar), it represents the pinnacle of multi-year training.
